For a room that loves stories.
Some chairs aren’t meant to match. They bring their own color, their own history, their own quiet charm. Familiar, useful, and somehow perfect. This is that chair.
For most of my adult life, I’ve had this big handmade kitchen table. And for just as long, I’ve been collecting chairs to go around it. Not matching sets. Not “dining room furniture.” Just chairs I’d find at estate sales, garage sales, antique stores, or sitting by the side of the road waiting for someone to notice them.
Some came home because of the color. Some because they were a little worn in the right way. Some because they just felt like they had a past. They’ve come and gone over the years — broken, repainted, replaced — but the habit never stopped. I’m always looking for chairs.
What I realized somewhere along the way is that every home has that one chair that doesn’t match anything else… but somehow belongs more than the rest. The chair you pull from the corner when an extra seat is needed. The one that ends up in the library, the spare room, the hallway, wherever it fits that week. The chair that sticks around because it has a little personality to it.
So The Chair by Casey Kasparek is really just an extension of that — my years of finding these one-off pieces and giving them a new life. Some are salvaged. Some are new. Some get repainted. Some stay chipped. Each one ends up with its own look and its own place in the world.
I’m not trying to reinvent furniture. I’m just making the kind of chair I’ve always kept around my own home — familiar, useful, a little odd in the best way, and somehow perfect.
