The Corvid is a cosmopolitan family of birds known in colloquial English as the crow family.
It is considered to be highly intelligent, as well as a fast learner. Many believe Corvids to be monogamous and mate for life. They are also a very social and helpful breed in all aspects to its community. The term “it takes a village” comes to mind.
The series started during the peak of COVID 19. As others were baking bread in isolation, I was reclaiming art materials. The result is drenched in symbolism.
A mentor often said “you’re lucky if you like 10% of your work.” This is the result of the remaining 90%.
There are no-less-than 3 versions per canvas. Twenty-plus years of experimentation, layers, texture, color and revolving satisfaction fighting to make it into the 10%. These 4 pieces have been through multiple styles, subjects, climates, relationships and survived being baked at 375° for twenty-five minutes.
